EJU(EN)

COURSE

What is EJU (The Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students) ?

The Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) is a test conducted by the Independent Administrative Institution, Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). It assesses the basic academic proficiency levels required for entry into Japanese universities for international students. The test covers Japanese language proficiency as well as other subjects, including “General Subjects” (geography, history, economics, politics), “Science” (biology, chemistry, physics), and “Mathematics.”
International students wishing to enroll in Japanese universities are required to take EJU at least once during the year, as it is conducted twice (in June and November). The results, along with other application documents, must be submitted to the desired university for admission consideration. It is essential to carefully read and understand the admission requirements of the university and its faculties, as some universities may not mandate the submission of EJU results, and the required subjects may vary depending on the faculty.

About EJU Preparation Course

In the EJU Preparation Course, we provide individualized guidance to help students achieve high scores on EJU. We have summarized the content and goals of the instruction for each subject below.
*The course is available for both in-person and online classes.
*We also offer preparation for university-specific exams that may follow the EJU.

Subjects for EJU Preparation Course

Japanese as a Foreign Language, Mathematics, Science(biology, chemistry, physics), Japan and the World (geography, history, economics, politics)

Japanese
The content of classes

To achieve high scores in the Japanese Language section of EJU, we aim for the comprehensive improvement of Japanese language proficiency, focusing on the abilities of “Reading comprehension”, “Listening” and “Listening-reading comprehension” as tested in the EJU Japanese language examination.

The goal of classes

International students coming from abroad are expected to have varying levels of proficiency in Japanese. Therefore, we will start by assessing the Japanese language abilities of prospective students through the initial trial lessons or interviews. Tailoring our approach to each student’s individual Japanese language level, we will utilize appropriate teaching materials and provide personalized lessons.
For students with a basic level of Japanese, we will start from fundamental concepts. Meanwhile, for students with a higher proficiency, we will offer advanced instruction tailored to their level. Ultimately, our goal is to leverage the benefits of individualized lessons, ensuring that students develop Japanese language skills at a level that enables them to pass the Japanese Language section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) and gain admission to top-tier universities such as the University of Tokyo, Waseda University, Keio University, and other prestigious institutions.

Mathematics
The content of classes

To achieve a high score in the Mathematics section of EJU, we provide not only explanations of fundamental concepts but also personalized learning advice tailored to each individual’s proficiency level. Additionally, we conduct practice exercises based on the types of questions presented in the Mathematics section of EJU, aiming to enhance overall academic performance.

The goal of classes

An Example of Study Approach:
Step1:Confirmation of Understanding for Each Unit
Step2:Explanation of Unstudied Unit Knowledge
Step3:Practice Exercises on Actual Exam Questions
EJU is designed in accordance with the curriculum of Japanese high schools. As there are differences in curricula among countries, the degree of familiarity with necessary knowledge varies from person to person.
Generally, during the trial lesson, we confirm the understanding for each unit to assess the mastery level of each unit and then formulate a learning strategy for subsequent sessions. At this point, many participants may not have studied most of the units within the exam scope. For such units, we provide detailed explanations from scratch during the lessons.
In step 2, we use problem sets that Japanese high school students typically use to acquire knowledge. If you already have a suitable problem set, we may use that, or we may specify a particular set for you.
In step 3, we utilize past exam questions and commercially available EJU preparation problem sets to learn how to apply the acquired knowledge. Through these learning activities, we guide you to develop the necessary mathematical skills for solving problems effectively.

Japan and the World
The content of classes

To achieve a high score in Japan and the World section of EJU, we aim to enhance fundamental knowledge in the fields of Geography, History, Economics, and Politics which are included in Japan and the World section of EJU.

The goal of classes

For international students coming from various educational backgrounds, the knowledge and foundational skills in the fields of “Geography,” “History,” “Economics,” and “Politics” tested in the Comprehensive Subjects section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) are likely to vary significantly due to differences in their previous educational environments. Therefore, during the initial trial lesson, we aim to assess the knowledge and foundational skills of each student in the areas of “Geography,” “History,” “Economics,” and “Politics” that they plan to study. Using appropriate teaching materials tailored to each student’s level, we will provide individualized instruction based on their respective levels.
For students whose knowledge and foundational skills in the fields of “Geography,” “History,” “Economics,” and “Politics” are not yet sufficient, we will offer detailed and easily understandable overviews and explanations for each field. We will provide solid instruction starting from the basics.
Moreover, for students whose knowledge and foundational skills in these fields are at a relatively high level, we will engage them in tackling past EJU questions and expected problems. Through this, we will provide high-level guidance commensurate with their abilities, ultimately aiming to equip students with the knowledge and foundational skills at a level that enables them to pass the Comprehensive Subjects section of the EJU and gain admission to top-tier universities such as the University of Tokyo, Waseda University, and Keio University. We will leverage the advantages of individualized instruction to the fullest extent throughout the guidance process.
